The Cotton Jersey Dress – Perfect Garment for Vacations
I don’t travel as much as I’d like, but when I do there are two “must have items”. The first is a swimsuit and the second is a cotton jersey dress. Honestly, I think this is an item every woman should have in their wardrobe.
Here is a picture of a cotton jersey dress made by Seattle Designer, Beki Wilson. Her brand, Out of Line, is typically only found in funky little boutiques in Downtown Seattle and Portland.
What I like about her stuff is that she is “ahead of the curve” without being trendy. The great news is that she just decided to list some of her more popular items on Etsy (basically eBay for women who seek unique high-end handmade items).
Why I Think Cotton Jersey Dresses Are Perfect for Travel
One of the huge benefits of cotton dresses and the cotton jersey dress in particular, is how little of a space they take up in a suitcase. They are also easier to care for than many other fabrics. Probably the best thing is that they tend not to wrinkle.
The Cotton Jersey Dress Is Versatile: Dress it Up or Dress it Down.
Last time I was in Puerto Vallarta, I brought a black jersey dress with me and I wore it shopping the first day we went into town (beware of the aggressive time-share salespeople). Anyway, a couple of days later my boyfriend wanted to take me to a fancy restaurant called “Le Cliff”. This isn’t a black-tie atmosphere, but good dress code is highly encouraged. I wore that same dress and dressed it up with a bit of jewelry I purchased in downtown Puerto Vallarta and it worked out well. Breath-taking view by the way. We got a table on the edge of the cliff!
[If you go to Puerto Vallarta, you have to see this place! Some people believe it is the best place to watch a sunset...on the planet. Hard to argue.]
This Type of Dress is Perfect for Both Cold and Warm Climates
Since cotton is a breathable fabric, it helps the body stay cool in the heat. So if you are to a tropical climate it will keep the skin cool and you are less likely to sweat compared to many other fabrics. The same holds true in colder climates. I live in Seattle and this material will keeps me warm as well. Another benefit…it dries quickly. This is handy in Rainy cities like Seattle or if you put on over a swimsuit in warmer climates.
I Don’t Think Women Wear Dresses Enough!
Many women will only wear dresses for special occasions or things like formal events, which is a shame. There is nothing sexier than a woman in a dress in a casual environment. The best way to stand out and get noticed by men…you husband, boyfriend, or “handsome prospect”…is to wear a dress. The cool thing about the cotton jersey dresses is that you can wear them at any event where you would normally wear jeans. Give it a try!
Oh yeah…and make sure to bring one on vacation
